Brave Story: New Traveler

Turn-based combat

Brave Story:
New Traveler

Brave Story: New Traveler is a beautiful 3D RPG with turn-based combat.

The storyline:

It’s a calm, ordinary day. Two friends are enjoying the peaceful afternoon. Suddenly, the young girl falls into a mysterious illness and shows no sign of waking. The boy, Tatsuya, hears a voice offering him a way to save his friend. And thus he steps into the world of Vision.

The storyline is interesting and engaging as it begins to flesh out. The gameplay, too, offers unusual spins on cooperative skills, special abilities, and the upgrade/crafting system.

Crimson Gem Saga

Turn-based RPG

Crimson Gem Saga

Crimson Gem Saga is a turn-based Japanese RPG with beautiful sprite-based 2-D artwork, offering 30+ hours of gameplay.

The storyline is a classic fantasy tale of adventure and heroism, which, while not groundbreaking, delivers a satisfying experience for old-school RPG gamers. Your character, Killian, keeps coming in second. Nothing seems to be going his way. But tricky Fate, she has something up her sleeve….

One of the things I love finding in an RPG are witty comments about the different objects and people your player character can interact with in-game. That sort of writing makes me want to run around talking to everyone and trying to interact with everything. Crimson Gem Saga is one of those games.

I wish I could have gotten more out of Crisis Core before my PSP bit the dust. Disgaea is a game I never imagined I'd fall in love with. I'll get reaquited with both when I pick up a Vita. Maybe then I'll finally expereince Persona.
